Saved By The Dog

My baby had hard news today. The kids have a little sister and brother and they have been separated since they came to live with us. It's a long ugly story. Piglet did a lot of mothering to them when they were little. She mailed a birthday card to her little brother and today it came back; undeliverable, no forwarding address. She was devastated.

I followed her outside, I knew she was crying. I just sat by her and stroked her hair and listened. We just sat there together. The dog went over and threw up something, and then went and pooped. We laughed, he's a great dog with good timing.

I came in the house and went upstairs. I've been reading some fun books and resting since I got home. A little while later I heard Piglet say, "Somebody is burning up eggs"! Holy cow! I had COMPLETELY forgotten that I had put some eggs on the stove to hard boil, on high. They had gone bone dry and were exploding all over. The DOG was barking and wouldn't quit. He made Piglet go in the kitchen. Our dog is a hero! We probably could have had a fire. It's official he's a hero and I'm demented.

Let's hear it for the dog! HOORAY! GOOD BOY!

Y'all need some hugs? Come on over to my house, I've already got the teakettle on (and I made some delicious HEALTHY pumpkin bran muffins -- I spruced up one of Laurel's recipes). I also made some bread -- smells great. But hurry up, 'cuz it's going FAST! These people around here eat everything in sight and then go scrounging. (If all else fails, bring along the fondue pot . . . I've got chocolate!!)

; )

Love to ALL of you!

How very sad about the girls wee brother and sister not being in touch. AS for boiled eggs, my Mum and I had a discussion JUST THE OTHER DAY about her burning boiled eggs... apprarently the smell is horrendous! Does your home now smell dreadful too? It's not something I have ever done! Luckily.

Yahoo for the dog and I am so sorry about Piglet's devastation, I'm sure that is some rough news to bare. I hope answers are cleared up soon.

I see your boiled egg and raise you one egg exploded in a microwave oven.

If it makes you feel better, yesterday I fried up some bacon that had expired 8 months ago and wondered why it had a slight smell to it. Then I looked at the expiration date. Immediately after that, I put some ham in the frying pan to try and make up for th bacon. Walked away, came back and it was blacker than soot.

I feel your pain.
