I Have a BEEF.

This was my home in Felton.

This is the best dad gum coffee on the Earth. period. Steve's Smooth French, that's what I'm talkin bout, yeah they do internet orders buy some.

Guess where? I know I took the picture. I'll give you a big hint just around the corner is the Crow's Nest.

This is an internet photo of West Cliff drive, I would give the photographer credit if I knew who took it, amazing picture. Yes it is this pretty in real life no special effects needed.

Ok just quit it. It seems like everywhere I look people are writing about Santa Cruz and Monterey, in California. You may not know this but I am a California born native. I moved here in the year 2000, because we saw a house we couldn't resist. Seriously for a price like that we could pay the note by flippin burgers for a living, or so we said.

People are going everywhere, places that are my old stompin grounds and I know exactly where they are and what it's like.

And I am getting depressed.

I miss it.

It's hot here.

My life is good here, but I wonder if it will ever feel like "home."

And just when I think I can't take another post of this, the other big whammy comes, puppies and dogs. Or worse losing a dog, or a bird, or shoot fire a sick mama. You know what?

CRAP I can't take it anymore. If my granddaughter could've waited a few more days I would've run away with her! Only when your a kid can you just up and go like that, and tonight I'm jealous.

I really want some coffee from Mr Toots. On Saturday night I want to go to Mt Hermon for the outdoor music. I want to walk in the woods, and stroll on the beach. I'd like to go see Speckwoman and oooh and awhh over all her latest insanely fantastic designs. I'd go see my friends, and have tea parties with W&R. Maybe I'd never come back to Mississippi.

I could do it too, if I didn't have a house, a husband, a kid, 2 cats, and a job in the ICU.

Oh my gawd I am soooooo depressed. I must need a new hormone patch.

If I happen to have any Santa Cruz lurkers and you have a garage apt for rent, leave me a comment. I can almost smell the sea air, I have got a bad case, a bad bad case.... Carpos, The Palomar, the thrift stores, the beaches, the library book sales,..... waaaaaaaaah

yep that is definitely whining, bawling, complaining, pity party, whatever, yep that would be right. Anybody want to buy my house? The garden comes with it, and you can even have the cats.

Something about us CA girls that makes us always yearn to be back along the coast. No humidity or big bugs, and of course the vast Pacific can't be beat.

I'm from the Southern Coast of CA, but I know I'm in Texas for the best reasons and I give thanks for them. Now I'll go check out that coffee. :)

Stop, stop, stop!!! You're depressing me too. Get on a plane and come for a visit. We'll drive down and do the town together. REALLY! Do it! I'm game for some Gayle's Bakery goodies and all the rest. (And you know I am ALWAYS up for tea here at W&R!)

Karen Deborah . . . Come on Down!!! (And anybody else that wants to join us -- I've been dreaming of a blog-dacious get together with all of us in one place having a blast without a keyboard in our midst. Sound fun? Let's pray and see what happens!!) ; D

[Whew! I'm worn out! I'm gonna go do a load of laundry and get a grip.]

Oh my gosh, you poor thing. Debbie's right. You need to get yourself out here for a visit. I'm so sorry about all the posts on Asilomar. I didn't mean to make you feel so bad. I really think you need to come to California for a while.
If my mother wasn't in such critical condition I would go with you and Debbie and walk the beach at Santa Cruz with both of you. Maybe I could slip in a day or two when I'm down in the Bay Area. I haven't been there in years.
Please come at some point. I think you deserve a much needed trip here. Life's too short to be so unhappy. Come on out to California and do some California Dreaming and wear some flowers in you hair...

Oo ooh can I come too? I promise to not talk too much and never ask if we are there yet.

I'll be your thrift store enthusiast.

Cheer up - I'm not going anywhere either so we can sit in your garden together and chat. That should help some, right?

Oh, Karen! Had a bad day, lovie?? Yes, put on the new patch. Drink some whine...oh, wait...I meant wine! You'll feel better in the morning! Besides, how you gonna afford to live in CA unless you get a crack house? Call me, I'll take you out for cocktails and listen.

Seriously, if you miss your 'home' town so much why don't you explore the possibilities of going back there?
Probably can't I suspect, so you must try and love where you are! You really must, or the rest of your life will suck with being unhappy where you are. That would not be good.

Awww Karen! You're just a little home sick for Santa Cruz. I think it was my photos from Mr. Toots that sent you over the edge!! Next time I go to SC, I'll get something special and send it to you:) Maybe a surfboard magnet? A bag of coffee?? Oh..saltwater taffy from the warf??? Actually, I'd LOVE to leave CA. I'm a native too, but it's just to crazy here now. I want some land around me and I sure won't find it here. Hey...maybe we should trade for a while?:)

I feel your pain. Sometimes things just seem like they would be so much easier somewhere else. Focus on all of the good and power through.

I actually feel better after reading your "depressing" post. I'm longing for my lake and feeling like I'd rather curl up with a blanket than face another day of... well, of waiting on everyone from the moment I wake up until midnight when I drop into bed.

Oh, I'm so sorry for posting all those Santa Cruz photos and making you home sick!!! That's the bad thing about this area, once you leave it's so hard to come back because it's so dang expensive here! When you live here you just put up with it and get used to the expense. I've thought about leaving awhile back but I don't think I could now.

In case you feel like looking at more Santa Cruz photos, Glenda from Many Fond Memories just posted some photos...that's if you're up to it! Her link is on my sidebar.

I get depressed looking at New England photos because I really want to go back there for a vacation so I know how you feel!
