Anonymous Rocks

Yesterday I was obviously in the dumps. We all have to work. I was just hoping with the broken feet and bum hip that I could trim enough from our expenses to stay home. Well we tried it and it's not enough. I want to thank everybody who left a comment yesterday, nobody will ever be able to convince me that bloggers are not one of the most supportive communities in this world.

There was a surprise comment from someone who is a mystery. The anonymous comment left us all speechless. One very talented writer and also someone who could just walk up and basically say, " it's plain as the nose on your face." Amazing. I like the ideas.

If you didn't read it here is the comment.

"You are a caretaker. Your housekeeping skills are amazing, your interest in nutrition is intense, your experience in the health industry and your ability to discern strengths and weakness is "your gift".
God has prepared you for the work he created you to do, I pray that you recognize that you are intentionally and wonderfully made, and move forward with your many, many, abilities.
Your whole "Blogger Persona" screams "In-Home Assistant". If you could get 5-6 clients who need occasional home care, e.g.: shopping, cleaning, meds, companionship, and just work independently with the main objective of supplementing the income, while providing a wonderful service to someone who needs a hand. Seasonally, you could disinfect homes when a family has had illness. For $$$ amount, you could go in, clean kitchens, bathrooms, change linens, and help a family resume their busy lives. You could do a seasonal cleaning and Christmas setup for the busy family. Never forget, that you live in God's economy, and he knows your needs and your heart."

OK bloggy buddies put your collective genius together and tell me how would I go about starting something like this? An idea has to have a way to be implemented. One of the things I really like to do is 'design and develop'. But to do this a lot of 'outside the box' thinking would have to be done, remember there is no budget to start up a business. Why let a little thing like that, stop a great idea?

What ideas do you have for a business name? How about prices? Advertising on the cheap? What about legal stuff? Can I just hang my shingle?

Are your creative juices flowing this morning? What say you?

You know Nanny, that reminds me of this show I use to watch with you where these British Nannies would go around and offer their services to desperate families...you could do something like that

What an awesome idea! I would suggest that you hang out your shingle.....try by adevertising in the church bulletin and/or make your church friends aware of your new endeavour. Also, speak to your doctor's office. They may know families that are in need of your services.

As far as the H1N1 vaccine, I feel fine today and am not aware of anyone who has become ill from the vaccine.

Kudos to anonymous. I don't have answers for you, but anonymous has gotten you thinking and I bet you will come up with some good ones. I will be thinking also, for you and for me. I am not such a "homemaker" but I am in need of a change from what I am doing now.
All the best to you in your quest.

dr's offices , church friends all good ideas. Before you hang a shingle though verify the state laws in regards to in home care . with your back ground its probably not an issue , however it wont cost to be sure , and it could cost alot if your not.

Print out fliers oon your computer and ask your local "favorite" resturant if you can leave them on the counter fgor people to take . things like that will work and they are not expensive

Just a thought. Have you tried signing up for your Social Security disability? With all that is wrong with you. Shouldn't be a problem. Some people have a hard time getting on it. And then some can get it without any trouble. I wish you the best. I know you like to work. But sometimes we just have to give up what we like to do..

This is from my daughter in law that lives in Harrison, Ar. She is a Community Relations Coordinator for Senior Helpers. We have trained caregivers that do personal care and companion care for the elderly and homebound people. Senior Helpers is in 32 states, but is just now starting up in Arkansas so I'm excited to be in on the front end. Our web-site is www.seniorhelpersarkansas.com
It is only part time work. But pays good. If you would like her phone no. let me know.

Starting up your own business can be expensive but the idea of working as a home care nurse sounds right for you. You could works as many hours as you want. You've got great skills and, I'm sure, recommendations. If you work "for" someone you might even get some benefits.
Like Ruth, I think you could qualify for Social Security Disability. You might want to explore this idea too. If you get disability you will receive a retro check from when you stopped working. That would really help.

I would try all these great ideas, dr. office, church etc but also try and get the disability. I got it several years ago without a blink of the eye...basically you need to have good records and recommendations from your doc. Try it...they can only say no and then you appeal...

Hmm, ok, there are agencies, I think, but I think private might be more laid back. I agree to check into state regs.

Marketing, well, you know nurses right? Could you leave cards with ICU nurses for families that might need them? or the doctors themselves? Churches, nursing homes, short term care facilities, find out if there are any support groups, online or in person, for alzheimers families in your area, senior centers, hospice...

hope those help some. And it does sound perfect for you!

I think this sounds wonderful for you. Around our small town people call this, "sitting with the elderly". Although, much more is involved than sitting! Anyway, people will place a small classified ad in our local newspaper advertising this. Good luck!

I've found that good old-fashioned word of mouth and flyers are superb advertising. Let people know that you'll do that line of work and things will open up to you. God is good that way.

I actually think it's a stellar idea. Anon does indeed ROCK.

Wish I could help you, but I am experiencing similar emotions.
