No Big Deal!

I am a wimp, really it's true. Nurses are terrible patients. My "experience," yesterday was really excellent. The prep being the worst of it. The office where these doctors practice was very professional. I was out like a light before they even peeked under my gown, which was fine by me. The doc was great, she said, "So basically this is; your 52 and we are screening you for colon cancer right"? Right.
Absolutely right.

Since ya'll just get jealous over the yard, even when I'm sharing how to just get started, we are switching topics today. Your health. Ohhhhhh no she is really going to recommend the Maxsquirts for everybody. Yep indeedy. No, I'm not still under the influence. When I worked in the hospital I worked oncology (cancer). Regardless of statistics, a majority of our inpatients have colon cancer. It is not nice. It does not play. Because you have no feeling in your colon symptoms present with advanced disease.

Young people die of this. One of the hardest cases I had as a hospice nurse was a 42 year old mother, and high school teacher; an incredible woman. Colon cancer killed her. It doesn't have to be.

We would all rather skip these exams, and the bills that go with them. A pelvic is no picnic either, and you are AWAKE for that. Seriously this isn't bad. One every 5 years, could mean the difference for growing old, and seeing your children graduate from college. My young teacher held out for her son's graduation and died shortly thereafter.

It's great news to hear "all is well". They can also snip polyps which can become cancer, just a little house cleaning, and no pain. So think about it.
I wish I could say I was funny too, but Daddy BB stole the show on that one. I just had a lovely nap. Thanks for all the kind thoughts. I don't own stock with any GI folks. I promise there is no kick back for me. just taking a break from fun ( I hope) to encourage you to care about your body, that's it. No pictures, definitely no pictures.

Hey girlfriend,

Glad you hear your are "Beautiful" inside (we already knew you were beautiful on the outside). First thing I did was EAT when that "thingie" was over. I can't blab on as I am off to the garden to dig up so many pretties which need to be moved in order to accommodate our new deck. (Hooray! 14 feet deep and GORGEOUS to replace that yuck thing that no longer clings to my cottage.) Teatime in about a month -- are y'all coming? (Well, just so you know you're invited.) Love you! ~ XO

Glad it went well, and thanks for the kick start to some of us who avoid the doctor like the plague (can you read: skipped mammogram, pap and physicals?). But you're right, there's people depending on me. sigh.

Unlike Laura I am relieved there are no pics to accompany your post. I am also relieved all is well. Thank goodness they let you sleep so you don't have to remember anything embarrassing that would keep you up at night! (or is it just me that happens to?)

The prep about killed me the time I had this done. No Joke. I drank that stuff and then rolled around on my bed trying to keep it down. Frappy walked in just as I stood up to go into the bathroom and I projectile vomitted across my whole bedroom. I could not control it. I puked and puked and puked some more. I must have kept some of it down long enough to do its job on the other end. My husband had to call the doctor and he said to not worry about it and come in anyway. I was in tears at the thought of having to go through the prep again and was so relieved to not have to drink that stuff. My husband had worked late to take care of some stuff so he could take the morning off. It was HOT HOT HOT and he came home to me shaking, sweaty and still heaving while I tried to clean the carpet with the bissel. No way did I want a permanent reminder stained into my carpet!

When I came to in recovery my husband was obviously irritated with me. It really hurt my feelings. Apparently, I'd actually been awake and talking prior to my memory and kept asking him the exact same questions over and over. By the time I was aware he'd had it.

Oh yeah... and my doctor... He's young and good looking. UGH.

Glad everything came out for you okay and you don't have to do it again for awhile.

My mom recently had this done. She's 61. They found absolutely nothing and they told her to come back in 10 years. No family history of cancer at all. I'm waiting till 40 or the doc recommends it.
